What is Near Research?
Near Research is a unified model gateway and an AI-credit marketplace on NEAR, powered by the NEAR OS agent. Buy credits with $OS and use one OpenAI-compatible API key across 462 models.
How do I buy AI credits?
Get $OS with NEAR on nearly.trade, then redeem it for credits in the Near Research dashboard. Purchases start at $5. This landing page provides a purchase preview; it does not connect a wallet or process payments.
Why are the models cheaper?
Requests run through a shared provider master account. The credit marketplace offers discounted liquidity in tiers, so available pricing depends on the pool and the tier you purchase from. The examples on this page use a 30% discount.
Can I use my existing OpenAI SDK?
Yes. Set your base URL to https://nearresearch.com/v1, use your NEAR OS API key, and choose a supported model ID. The setup guide includes a Python example and tool configuration notes.
Does Near Research store my conversations?
The gateway does not retain your prompts or responses. Provider-side policies still apply. NEAR OS’s optional memory is a separate feature that keeps context you choose to use across conversations.
What does the 5% fee pay for?
A flat 5% platform fee funds $OS buybacks for holders. The purchase preview shows the fee separately so you can see the full estimated cost before proceeding.
Do I need a subscription or have to hold $OS?
There is no recurring subscription. The Free tier has no holding requirement. You use $OS to buy credits; holding $OS can qualify you for higher tiers and deeper discounts. Final holding thresholds will be published at launch.
Can NEAR OS swap, stake, and launch on NEAR?
That is planned for phase two. NEAR OS will help turn chat instructions into NEAR actions, including swaps, staking, and launches. These on-chain features are not available in this preview.
